There are three generic types of basement construction: poured concrete, masonry walls, and precast panels.
Forms of poured concrete are stripped away after curing as this type of construction is much more resistant to water infiltration. Masonry walls are the most economical option for a small scale basement excavation. This option doesn’t take a lot of time. However, the concrete blocks can be prone to swelling as this option applies lateral pressures to the basement wall that leads to weakened joints. Lastly, the precast panel is the least common. It is the most economical option when there are multiple basements being constructed at once.
